Your colourful tour of New England begins in the historic city of Boston. One of America’s oldest cities, with its rich history, grand architecture, as well as world-renowned academic and cultural institutions, the city retains and radiates the glory it has garnered over the last four centuries and offers an excellent introduction and conclusion to most any tour of New England.
Spend this morning retracing the steps of Paul Revere near the Old North Church; see the Boston Common; the old State House; and other locations that are significant to U.S. history along Boston’s Freedom Trail. Then head north into Maine, for a visit to the cobblestones of the maritime city of Portland—complete with lighthouses and lobster fisherman.
Head to Bar Harbor on Mount Desert Island—gateway to the woodlands and rocky sea shores of Acadia National Park. Keep an eye out for local residents, including moose, beaver, whales, and seabirds on your drive through the park.
Your travels of New England continues inland through the Longfellow Mountains to the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Step back in time through classic covered bridges, quaint towns, and forests bursting with seasonal colours.
From Bretton Woods, you will head west to Burlington. Pass through the capital city of Vermont, Montpelier. It may be the smallest state capital in the U.S., but Montpelier is brimming with historic appeal and quirky attractions.
Another day, another delightful stretch of coastline to explore. Today we’ll set our sights on Provincetown, a quirky village at Cape Cod’s tip that simply oozes character.
The historic island city of Newport, Rhode Island is a mere 60 miles from Cape Cod so a comfortable distance to stay and explore before you set off.
Venture on to Rhode Island—the ‘Ocean State’—for a sightseeing tour of the Newport harbour town to hear about its fascinating history.
You’ll return to Boston. Finish off your sightseeing today before heading to the airport for your flight home.
