From the fascinating metropolis of Sydney, you travel through the varied landscape along the Australian east coast to the tropical Cairns.
 
On your program are many highlights such as Byron Bay, Fraser Island and the Whitsunday Islands.
 

Day 1
Arrive in Sydney

Discover Australia’s most beautiful city, from the iconic Sydney Opera House and sparkling blue Sydney Harbour to fabulous beaches, delicious food and blockbuster shows.

Day 2
Sydney to Port Macquarie

You leave Sydney and drive north on the Pacific Highway to Port Macquarie.

Day 3
Port Macquarie to Byron Bay

Today’s drive ends in Byron Bay, often referred to as the most beautiful spot on the East Coast.

Day 4
Byron Bay

Byron Bay is a coastal town located on the far-north coast of New South Wales, home to Australia’s most easterly point and the iconic Cape Byron lighthouse.

Day 5
Byron Bay to Brisbane

Through mountainous landscapes continue north and cross the border with Queensland. Finally, you reach the modern city of Brisbane.

Day 6
Brisbane to Twin Waters

See the impressive Glasshouse Mountains as you drive along the Sunshine Coast.

Day 7
Sunshine Coast

Visit the naturally refreshing Sunshine Coast, where you will experience a laid-back lifestyle centred around pristine beaches, freshwater rivers and lakes, subtropical forests and warm sunshine.

Day 8
Twin Waters to Fraser Island

Drive along the coast to River Heads, where you can take a ferry to Fraser Island without a rental car.

Day 9
Fraser Island

World Heritage-listed Fraser Island is a rare and beautiful destination at the most southern end of the Great Barrier Reef, offering a refreshing change from the hustle of mainland Australia.

Day 10
Fraser Island to Bundaberg

You take the ferry back to River Heads and continue north to Bundaberg

Day 11
Bundaberg to Rockhampton

After crossing the Tropic of Capricorn, you are now in the Australian tropics. You reach Rockhampton, known as the “Cattle Capital” of Australia.

Day 12
Rockhampton to Airlie Beach

This is the longest stretch of your drive, and you will notice the scenery beginning to get more tropical as you proceed.

Day 13
Airlie Beach

Airlie Beach is the vibrant hub of the Whitsundays and the ideal mainland base for fun and adventure in the Whitsundays. It is the perfect launching pad for activities on the water and in the lush, green rainforest of the Whitsunday Coast.

Day 14
Airlie Beach to Townsville

Take in the highlights of tropical North Queensland between Airlie Beach and Townsville.

Day 15
Townsville to Mission Beach

From Townsville, travel throughIngham and Cardwell, to reach Mission Beach with its 14km of sandy beaches.

Day 16
Mission Beach to Cairns

Today you arrive at Cairns, the destination of your journey. On the way it is worthwhile to make a detour into the rainforest to the Josephine Falls.

Day 17
Depart from Cairns

Drop your rental car at the return loction before heading to the airport for your flight home.
