Enjoy four amazing days exploring the world’s greatest city. An epicentre of the arts and America’s true dining and shopping capital. New York City wears many crowns and spreads an irresistible feast for all. Only the Big Apple can provide so much packed into five boroughs.
Highlights today could include 5th Avenue shopping, Grand Central Station, the New York Public Library, Bryant Park, Times Square, Broadway and the Rockefeller Centre – just make sure you leave time to visit either the Top of The Rock or The Empire State Building as the Sun sets, to witness the city’s lights come alive in the Big Apple.
Central Park is the most visited urban park in the US. With 843 acres of walking trails, ice rinks, cycle paths, a Zoo and even a castle you can easily spend the day here. Bordering one length of the park is 5th Avenue home to some of the worlds most renowned museums such as The Met and The Guggenheim. Madison and Park Avenue are here too, great for watching the wealthiest New Yorkers dip in and out the most luxurious designer stores.
Downtown stretches to Battery Park at it’s most southern tip, where ferries leave to the legendary Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. The financial district is anchored by Wall St, home to the New York Stock exchange and the National September 11 Memorial and Museum. Surrounding neighborhoods offer a great contrast to this commercial hub – Soho, Greenwich, Tribeca and the Meatpacking district are crammed with cool bars, shops and restaurants.
Your trip begins in Ithaca, New York. It ends in Niagara Falls. Ithaca is midway between New York City and Toronto.
It is an easy drive to Niagara Falls. Prepare to enjoy breathtaking views, the Maid of the Mist, Cave of the Winds, fireworks over the Falls, and more.
The sound is like thunder, the sight awe-inspiring! Optional attractions you may choose to visit are: Hornblower Niagara Cruise; Journey Behind the Falls; Niagara Spanish Aero Car (ride over the Whirlpool); Niagara Falls Incline Railway; and more. Casino Niagara and Fallsview Casino are also available for those who might like to try their luck. The afternoon is yours to spend as you wish.
Depart for Williamsport, Pennsylvania. You will be passing through Corning, NY on the way. Treat yourself to an Amish Feast for dinner, it won’t disappoint!
Your destination today is Washington, DC – the USA’s capital. Teeming with monuments and memorials, eclectic neighborhoods, and true local flavor – Washington, DC is a place unlike any other.
There is so much to see and do in DC (as the locals call it) that you should probably stay for at least a month—Washington’s Smithsonian alone contains more than 120 million artifacts spread across 19 separate museums. Then there are the monuments, the parks, the fabulous government buildings open to the public, performing arts and an excellent blues music scene to keep you up half the night as well. Washington DC is a great city, from a visitor’s point of view.
You could drive straight to Philadelphia or you have the opportunity to detour through Lancaster County. Better known as Pennsylvania Dutch Country, the area is known for its Amish and Mennonite population and its picturesque and productive farms.
Immerse in the local culinary scene with a Philly Cheesesteak Taste Test. Visit Independence National Historical Park and the Liberty Bell and learn about these iconic sites of American history. Visit the famous ‘Rocky’ steps before enjoying a free evening in the City of Brotherly Love.
Depart from Philadelphia through New Jersey and Pennsylvania back to New York, Drop off your rental car at the airport, before catching your overnight flight home.
